Y Gwerthwr Rygiau The Rug Seller 2022

In collaboration with the National Museum Cardiff and Sight Life Cardiff, I created this tactile access resource, using a variety of textiles to emulate the artist Christopher Wood’s painting titled A Foreign Rug Seller set in a quaint Cornish fishing village.

This tactile resource unites the audience with the physically elements of the original painting and empowers them to explore every essence, that they may be unable to see visually.
The use of tiny azure blue rocks represents both the beauty and the peril of the sea, while a seersucker fabric mimics the haptic texture of the sweeping masonry wall . Soft, pure white cotton wool recreates the clouds in an otherwise seamless blue sky.
